This is a fabulous really large antique French rustic terracotta confit bowl, glazed on the inside. It is rare to find them this big and such fabulous condition.
This dates from the late 1800's and was a mainstay of the French country kitchen. They were used for preserving meat, and the bowl would be buried semi underground so that the meat would be preserved all winter.
Nowadays this bowl makes a fantastic addition to any rustic or farmhouse kitchen. Perfect for using as a mixing bowl, it will feel fantastic to work with.
