This is a stunning antique French terracotta Tian (mixing bowl).
It is a truly classic piece of antique French farmhouse pottery, made for everyday use in rural kitchens.
Made from Terracotta with a deep and rich mustard yellow glaze. There are some cracks in the glazing, they are not cracks in the terracotta.
A "tian" is a traditional French earthenware bowl used for mixing, baking and marinating. The rough, textured base, left unglazed, is a hallmark of authentic French farmhouse pottery, allowing the piece to dry properly after firing and providing a stable surface for kitchen work.
It measures 17 cms ( 6.75") diameter at the top and 10.5 cms (4.2") high
