This is a stunning 19th century half glazed mustard yellow confit pot. It is also glazed inside.
This pot is from the mid 1800's and they are highly collectable. They are from the south west of France and were used for storing duck during the winter months when they were placed in the ground outside up to the glaze line. They are fully glazed inside.
It measures 25.5cms/ 10 inches high approx.
You can see where some of the terracotta has worn away on either side from where it was used and lived underground all winter for so many years. But it is not chipped or cracked, just wearing its signs of authenticity and usage as a badge of pride on either side.
