This is a stunning confit pot from here in the south west of France. We purchased this from a farm in the Pyrenees Atlantique department in the city of Pau.
This one measures 24cms, approx 9.5 inches high. It is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips or holes and is fully glazed inside and totally watertight, making it even more perfect for flower arrangements as well.
This pot from the mid 1800's and they are highly collectable. They are from the south west of France and were used for storing duck confit during the winter months when they were placed in the ground outside up to the glaze line. The cooked meat was encased in duck fat inside the pot. The ground acting as natural refrigeration.
