This is a stunning 19th century half glazed mustard yellow confit pot, that is even more collectible because it is slightly smaller than the average size, which makes it a wonderful find. It also has no holes so is great for flowers.

This pot is from the mid 1800's and they are highly collectable. They are from the south west of France and were used for storing duck during the winter months when they were placed in the ground outside up to the glaze line. They are fully glazed inside.

It measures 22.5cms/ 8.75 inches high approx.

This has come from a stunning Maison de Maitre (a masters house of some standing and usually one of the most important in the village) dating from the 18th century just outside the important historic city of Saintes, here in the Charente Maritime. The house had been in the same ownership since 1926.  Knowing where something comes from and that it was much loved by the same family for decades and generations is incredibly special.
