This is a stunning antique confit pot from here in the south west of France. These small confit pots are becoming very rare and hard to find and to have this one in such excellent condition is incredible and a real collectors item.
Don't be fooled by fakes which are becoming more frequent and harder to distinguish from the real thing. But I can vouch for the fact that this is 100% genuine, so you can purchase with confidence.
This one measures 18 cms, approx 7 inches high. It is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips and is fully glazed inside and totally watertight.
This pot from the mid 1800's is highly collectable. it is from the south west of France and were used for storing duck confit during the winter months when they were placed in the ground outside up to the glaze line. The cooked meat was encased in duck fat inside the pot. The ground acting as natural refrigeration.
