This is a stunning antique green confit pot from here in the south west of France. The green confit pots are becoming very rare and hard to find and are highly sought after.
This one measures 24 cms, approx 9.5 inches high. It is in excellent condition apart from a crack at the base which I have clearly shown and which I have reflected in the price. But for me this is just a wonderful part of its history, it tells a story. And if you want to use it for flowers, or anything needing water, simply put a cup or bowl inside.
Don't be fooled by fakes which are becoming more frequent and harder to distinguish from the real thing. But I can vouch for the fact that this is 100% genuine, so you can purchase with confidence.
This pot from the mid 1800's is highly collectable. it is from the south west of France and were used for storing duck confit during the winter months when they were placed in the ground outside up to the glaze line. The cooked meat was encased in duck fat inside the pot. The ground acting as natural refrigeration.
