This is an absolutely beautiful antique French vanity tray from the late 1800's. Because of the hand stitched lace this is utterly unique and a complete one off.
The tray is the highest quality brass surround with a double glass tray with a beautiful piece of antique hand stitched lace inside the two sheets of glass.
This lace would have been a part of the brides wedding lace from her veil and it was a custom to then save one of the best pieces and place this between glass to make a wonderful vanity tray. The lace is completely hand stitched, there were no sewing machines and is of the highest quality.
This is a heavy top quality item. There are many much lighter cheaper versions, but this is the real deal and the lace is exquisite.
Although it would look stunning on a vanity unit, I also think this would be gorgeous for serving cocktails for holding a few glasses and a small bowl of nuts for example. It is so beautiful it needs to be admired rather than hidden away.
It measures 43cms (17") long including the handles and the internal length of the tray is 35cms long (13.75")
