This is a stunning antique French terracotta Tian de lait (a milk bowl) with two handles and a pouring spout.
It is a truly classic piece of antique French farmhouse pottery, made for everyday use in rural kitchens.
Made from Terracotta with a deep and rich mustard yellow glaze. There are a couple of cracks in the glazing, they are NOT cracks in the terracotta.
A "tian de lait” is a traditional French earthenware bowl used for milk. The rough, textured base, left unglazed, is a hallmark of authentic French farmhouse pottery, allowing the piece to dry properly after firing and providing a stable surface.
It measures 26 cms (10.25") diameter at the top excluding the handles and 13 cms (5.25") high
