A great collection of 70 little vintage French ceramic miniature figures.
These are known as fèves and traditionally one fève is put inside the kings cake (the gâteau des rois). Thèse cakes or galettes are sold throughout France for Epiphany which falls on the 6th January.
The féve is put into the cake before it is baked, and then each person is given a slice in the hopes of having the féve in their piece. Whoever has the féve wins and is king for the day.
Many of these fèves are now highly sought after collectors items.
Each fève measures between 1 cm and 3 cms high. Some are older than others. They make a fabulous collection, a little piece of French tradition in a glass or wooden bowl and are a great talking point.
