This is a stunning set of 12 horn handled antique French knives with a silver bolster trim. The blades are in excellent condition and each one is stamped J Ott, Colmar. The horn handles are just gorgeous and all in very good condition too, 5 have minor cracks where they meet the trim. Each knife measures 24cms (9.5" ) long. They date from the early 1900's. It is rare to find such an excellent set still in their original box. There is no mistaking that this is the original as the makers mark is not only stamped on each knife blade but also on the box itself, Jacques Ott, Colmar, which is in the North East of France. The box is bound in beautiful green leather. The closure tab is missing. The box alone is gorgeous with mustard coloured baize inside. The box measures 27.5 cms x 15cms If I didn't have so many knives I would keep these myself, they are a one off and I do love them!
