This is an absolutely stunning and rare 19th century Saint-Uze confit pot. It is rare to find these pots in such lovely condition.
This pot from the mid 1800's is made from porcelain stoneware giving it the unique characteristic appearance so well associated with much sought after Saint-Uze pottery from the south of France. It is decorated with cobalt blue flowers and measures approx 19cms high exlcuding the lid (23cms with the lid).
Please look carefully at the photos, you will see there is crazing to the glazing and a very small hairline crack at the rim.
The lid is chipped and cracked and has been repaired, and it is only the first time I have ever seen one of these with a lid. I am including the lid, just because it is a part of the piece even though it is damaged.
