This is the most stunning antique French confit pot from south west France. It is glazed green inside and on the outside and dates from around 1860. The green confit pots are incredibly hard to find and are becoming very rare.  It has no chips or cracks and is in incredible condition for a genuine piece of kitchen equipment from this period.

These confit pots are highly collectable and sought after and looks fabulous on its own, with flowers or however you choose to display it.

It comes with all of its history as it came from a nearby chateau here in south west France where it was used to preserve duck during the winter months.

The duck would be rolled in duck fat and placed inside. The pot would then be put in the ground up to the glaze mark. This is how it was preserved over winter without refrigeration in the 18th and 19th century!

The confit pot measures  32cms (12.75") high.
