This is a really lovely antique white French Ironstone Tureen/Soupier with lid. These soupiers only get better with age, the colour, the signs of wear and tear, they all tell a story and are an intricate part of the history.
This is stamped Opaque Utzschneider part of the Famous French Sarregumines factory and dates from around 1870. It is extremely old and in fabulous condition for its age. There are no chips or cracks although there is discolouration to the rim from years of use cooking hot bubbling soups and casseroles, doesn't this just tell its story.
This soupier measures 24cms high (9.5") approx, including the lid.
Excluding the lid the soupier measures 15cms (6").
Diameter excluding the the handles is 19.5 cms (7.6").
Please look carefully at the photos, as I have always tried to show any chips, cracks and crazing very carefully. These are antique well used items and utterly genuine and therefore they are not perfect as one would expect.
